Do the Casual/Serious or Friends sections work differently?

Yes and no. Both the Casual and Serious sections operate the same way (with the exception of the dating focus of course), but the Friends section is slightly different.

When swiping in the Casual/Serious sections your swipes are anonymous, and matches occur when both you and another person swipe right on each other.

In the Friends section, a right swipe will send a Connection Request to be either accepted or declined. These requests can be found under Pending Connections on the Friends section Messages screen!
