Three First Date Ideas That Will Totally Land You a Second

September 19, 2016

A few months ago, I was on a total first-date escapade. I was talking with so much potential talent – great jobs, good families, priorities in-check – but everything seemed to drop off at the same point.

Before the first date.

Don’t get me wrong – these men were great in-person and the conversation carried well offline, but it was at the exact same point where I lost interest.

Why?

Bad first date locations. Like, really bad.

Although I’m Type-A in my day-to-day, I simply don’t want to decide on the location of a first date. My personal preference, but mostly because I want to see how unique or thoughtful a potential partner can be.

And let me tell you, it hasn’t been great.

So potential first dates, if you’re reading this – you’ll want to pay attention.

I’ve put together three date ideas that will totally land you a second – and why.

Read on.

1. Enjoy a three-course dinner – at different locations.

Three Course Meal

This is a date night to impress (and it’s actually easier than you might think).

First, check with your first date to find out what tickles their palate. Then, find a unique tapas bar, an elegant dinner location and a perfect place for dessert (I recommend a decadent donut to polish off the meal).

Why this will land you a second date:

This date clearly shows that you’ve put thought into the evening. You’ve taken the time to make reservations, and you’ve been creative and unique in doing so. You’ve thought about your date first, instead of opting for a stuffy first-date dining experience. So many bonus points.

2. Head to a wine tasting (with food in between)

Wine Tasting

There is almost nothing more romantic than a proper tasting at a winery. Not only does it make for a beautiful location and back-drop for a first date, it also doesn’t hurt to have a glass of liquid courage to open up with a stranger.

Of course, you’ll want to practice self control. There’s a fine line between an elegant wine tasting and drinking to the point of slurring your words. Make sure not to consume too much and to have food in between, or after – whether it’s at the winery or elsewhere. Keep it classy and have a great time!

Why this will land you a second date:

Heading to a winery shows your date that you appreciate fine goods. It also makes for a gorgeous backdrop for a first date, and is certainly out of the norm.

3. Get your body moving at a theme park

Did you know that attraction can be revealed through the introduction of ‘scary’ situations? According to a famous psychological study from 1973, there is a link between attraction and fear.

Strange, right? But true.

So, if you want your prospective partner to give you a call, or be open to a call after the first date, consider taking him or her to a theme park – packed with scary rides and attractions.

Why this will land you a second date:

Not only is a famous psychological study in support of this date idea, a theme park is just plain awesome. From Ferris wheels to ice cream, attractions to plenty of mini donuts, it truly has it all for an exciting first date.

The next time you’re conversing with a potential first date on ROVR, consider planning your first date with impressive fashion – and don’t make the mistake that my first date escapades made.
